Brassica rapa subsp. rapa Hajra et al.; Fl. Pak. @ eFloras.org; eFloras of India; Brassica campestris var. rapa L.

Annual or biennial herb with tuberous tap root. Stem up to 100 cm tall; simple or branched above. Leaves simple; lower leaves petiolate, petiole 2-17 cm, slender or thickened and fleshy, sometimes strongly winged, grass green; lamina lyrate - pinnatifid, usually 5-jugate, 10-30(-60) cm x (3-) -5-10(-20) cm, more or less bristly; middle and upper leaves sessile, glabrous, glaucous, oblong - lanceolate, about half clasping the stem with broadened cordate base. Racemes 30-40-flowered, corymbose above, elongating late so that the opened flowers overtopping the flowering buds. Flowers ca. 2 cm across, dull to golden yellow; pedicels 6-15 mm long, increasing up to 30 mm in fruit. Sepals 4, 3-6 mm long, 1.5-2 mm broad, oblong, ascending or spreading/ patent. Petals 4, 8-10 mm x 3.5-5 mm, generally bright yellow, obovate, apex rounded; claw prominent ca. 3 mm. Stamens 6, tetradynamous, filaments 4-7 mm long; anthers 1.5-2 mm long, oblong. Siliquae 30-80(-100) mm long, 2-3 mm broad, linear, sessile, terete, subtorulose, divaricate or ascending, including 10-20 mm long beak with 0-1 seed; valves membranous, yellowish, with a prominent midvein; septum membranous, not veined; seeds 8-12 in each locule, globose, 1-1.8 mm in diameter, pale yellowish brown.
